Palliative Care Queensland Releases it’s 2025-26 Pre-Budget Submission

Read the Submission

Palliative Care Queensland is pleased to release our pre-budget submission for the Queensland Government to consider in their 2025-26 budget. This document is headlined by four key priorities that have been developed through consultation with the broad palliative care sector and community.

To progress these aforementioned priorities within Queensland, we need to address the issues of:

  • access to quality community palliative care and hospice services
  • improving access to palliative and end-of-life care for under 65s and/or people with disabilities
  • supporting underserved populations, and
  • improving access to grief, bereavement and spiritual care services.

Palliative Care Queensland is committed to ensuring that high-quality palliative care is both accessible and adequately funded across Queensland, including in community and hospice settings. Our dedication to the sector and the broader community goes beyond advocacy for increased funding – we strive to improve access, equity and support for all individuals facing a life-limiting illness, and for the health professionals who support them.

To create a more inclusive, accessible and compassionate palliative care system in Queensland, we must address the gaps within the sector.  We must ensure that palliative care infrastructure meets the needs of Queenslanders living with a life-limiting illness and as they reach the last weeks and days of their life. We must foster a system of healthcare that is universal, responsive and respectful of each individual’s needs.

Our aim is to ensure compassionate, comprehensive and holistic palliative care remains a top priority for all Queenslanders.
