Palliative Care Queensland

Stephen Jenkinson, MTS, MSW is a culture activist, teacher, author, and farmer. He was formerly an assistant professor and program director at a major Canadian Medical School and Hospital. Stephen is the founder of the Orphan Wisdom School in Tramore, Canada and the author of five books, including Die Wise: A Manifesto for Sanity and Soul, the award-winning book about grief and dying, and the great love of life.

In this audio episode, Stephen reflects on the challenges presented by living (and dying) in what he describes as the death-phobic dominant culture of North America (and elsewhere). He offers practical invitations to consider engaging grief skills as an active aspect of love – and how approaching family or friends facing illness in this way could increase our connection to, rather than separate us from those we care for.
