The Board of Palliative Care Queensland is delighted to announce that Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young PSM Governor of Queensland has accepted the role of Patron of Palliative Care Queensland for the duration of her term in office.
Palliative Care Queensland CEO Shyla Mills welcomed the Governor’s acceptance, “We are delighted that The Governor has agreed to be the Patron of our organisation and we look forward to her support of palliative care during her term of office.”
“The Governor’s medical background, understanding of care and proven leadership will be a significant benefit to Palliative Care Queensland and our ongoing mission to ensure that every person who dies in Queensland experiences quality at the end of life.”
Ms Mills also paid tribute to outgoing Governor His Excellency the Honourable Paul de Jersey AC who acted as Patron during his term of office. “On behalf of the Board and members of Palliative Care Queensland, I would like to acknowledge and thank Mr de Jersey for his support of our organisation during his term of office. Under Mr de Jersey’s patronage, our organisation became stronger, increasing our influence, membership and role as the peak body for palliative care in Queensland.”
