Dr Matthew Cooper is a Palliative Care Specialist working with the Sunshine Coast Palliative Care Service.  His current role is with the Community Palliative Care Team, with a focus on the rural areas of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service.  Prior to commencing palliative care training in August 2017, he had worked as a GP for 14 years in Mapleton, in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

In addition to his clinical practice, Matthew is keen to facilitate discussions in the broader community around advance care planning, end of life care, and our approach as a society to death and dying.

Other interests include the wonders of family life with his wife and three children, running, karate, bird watching, and the contemplation of the meaning of life and the universe.
